Samsung Refrigerator Ice Buildup in West Hollywood — What I Found

Problem

Cause

Repair

I cleared the ice from the evaporator area using a steamer (not a heat gun — too aggressive on the plastic panels). Once the ice was off, I replaced the defrost thermistor. I checked the door gaskets, the airflow path, and confirmed the rest of the system was fine.

I also showed the client where the frost had been and explained that if the symptoms return, the next likely part is the defrost heater, then the control board. But on her unit, the thermistor was the only part needed.

Result

The fridge cooled back to normal within about 6 hours. The client called the next day to confirm the fresh food side was working again. I told her to check the back of the freezer in a month to make sure no new frost was forming.

Tip
