Repair

I showed the client what was caught and suggested using a small mesh laundry bag for socks and small items going forward. This is a common cause of drain pump issues on top-loaders, especially after baby items get washed.

Result

I ran a full test cycle with water. The washer drained completely and finished the spin step correctly. The client confirmed the next day that everything was working normally.

The pump was not replaced — it just needed to be cleared. If she had ignored the symptom for another week or two, the strain on the pump motor could have damaged it and turned this into a full pump replacement.
